If a guy/gal stays in shape and healthy , he/she can push into their 40’s if they have that competitive fire. I’m not so sure Perry, Marchand, Crosby, etal wouldn’t play for free sticks, Gatorade, and skate laces.

From Hockey Beast >> my Facebook >> BHO:

May be an image of 2 people, people playing hockey and text that says '?? COFFEY 7 27'

”Semenk saw me sitting by myself and he came over and says ’Why don’t you buy the boys a round of beer?’. I said, ’Yes, sir’. The beers came, the bill was 50 dollars and he said to me ’Are you okay?’ I said, ’Yep, but I got no money’.
He smiles and says, ’Yeah, but look at all the friends you got’”

RIP Alex. His nickname was “Fats”,, Gordie Howe once said “Alex can walk faster than he can skate”

Which NHL team has the captain’s “C” on the other side of their sweater than other teams do?

Which State has no north-south Interstate highway?

What team did Gordie Howe play for whose name contained a word that was spelled backwards?

Why was Toe Blake's nickname "Toe" ?

Rumour/rumor has it that Marcel Dionne, when with the Red Wings early in his career and revering GM Alex Delvecchio, was a bit mouthy and prima donna-like which led to Delvecchio trading him to LA, especially after the skinflint Red Wings offered him a fraction of what he ended up getting from the Kings who were owned by the rich and flamboyant Jack Kent Cooke.
(rumo(u)rs of gross behavio(u)r at a corporate function in Detroit have been largely exaggerated....)

The backwards name is of the same State that lacks a north-south Interstate highway.

I didn’t see this coming…. those young guys are really makin’ hay - Barger, Lauer, Fisher, Estrada, Lukes. Ya, I’ve heard all the “it’s a long season,, “they’ll fold up like a cheap tent in August” … “takes more than one winning streak to make the playoffs”… blather, blah, blah.

Former Bruins enforcer Lyndon Byers has passed at age 61. A Saskatchewan lad, he embraced the Bruins and, after playing, became a local radio personality.

Story here.

"... all part of his job [...] And he could laugh about it.”

Reminds me of a friend* from 'way back.  He got up Sat. noonish with a few minor facial scrapes/bruises.

His explanation was that he'd been at a bar: "... Ah, you know me ... I was still yapping and the other guy started punching."

1. Detroit, sometimes. The Coyotes changed to the right side - but they no longer exist. These things aren't etched in stone - check photos and you'll see that they change.

2. Nebraska

3. He played (very briefly) for the CND Hounds, the Galt Red Wings, and the Omaha Knights. Still looking for a proper backwards word, and any other team he might have played for. Does "aha" count? "Ben"? "In"?

4. His first name is Hector. His little sister, when she was young, couldn't pronounce it properly, but said, "Hec-toe." So, it's nothing amusing or earth-shattering, like having toe fungus or some such thing.

Allan Cup Hockey League - the St. Catharines Saints are in the mix, as is returning Galt Hornets.
Todd Bertuzzi , at 50 yrs old, will be playing for the Hornets… gadzooks.
“The Allan Cup is the trophy awarded annually to the senior (amateur) ice hockey champions of Canada. It was donated by Sir Montagu Allan of Ravenscrag, Montreal, and has been competed for since 1909. It was most recently won by the Wentworth Gryphins in 2025.”

I'm assuming there are some teams from "The Friendly Province" ?

here are the OHA (Ontario) teams https://allancuphockey.ca/teams/

I'm not aware of any.   For a few years there were a couple in S. MB and a couple in SK .... more or less assembled on an "as required" basis so far as I knew; I didn't hear anything about it this past season.   I've not adopted the habit of searching out my "news,"  so if it's not on MSM, it likely passes me by .... well, MSM and Facebook, which in this age of instant communication often puts stuff on my home page m-a-n-y days, or a  couple of months,  after the fact.

Maybe going/gone the same way as [mens'] fastball??   sad

The thought of taking in some of ^^ in P.A. had crossed my mind .... but thoughts of sitting in the blazing sun for extended periods, and thoughts of a wife who has less than no desire to watch have also crossed my mind.     Another thought: Why not combine it with a Surf-Side excursion?

But family visiting on their way to the Winnipeg Folk Festival says that my thinking could/should/??  have been more productively applied ..... like figuring out the &%*&$#% wiring on my trailers!!   Woo-hoo!!   crying
