As for throwing at a batter cuz he homered,, I liken it to a guy administering a clean hit in hockey and then having to fight some DC/MD-type goon.

Well, waddya know…. our friendly former Honourable Member of Parliament and Habitant puck-stopper  offers well wishes and congratulations to the Rook o’ da Year. At 162 lbs. (^~ kg.) and 5'9" (^~ cm.) he's joining that super-achieving bunch starting with Henri "Pocket Rocket" Richard, Chico Maki, Camille Henry, Yvan Cournoyer, Davey Keon ! , Theo Fleury, Marty St. Louis, Johnny Gaudreau, & Cole Caulfield, who all played with big hearts and small statures.

Well, the discussion seems to be centered primarily on small guys from the past. Besides, I don't consider #63 to be that small. At 5'9" tall, he towers over me.

I will admit to having a soft spot for Torey Krug (5'9", former Broon and currently on LTIR with St. Louis, and who's injury history likely makes HIM history) and especially Jack Ahcan, who's only 5'8" and bears serious resemblance to Krug's style. Ahcan played a grand total of 9 games for the Broons and got traded to Colorado, where he's played a total of 2 games for the Avs. Most of his career has been either in Providence or Loveland. I've seen him play maybe a dozen times, either on TV or in person, and he's a gritty little bastitch - proof positive that it's not the size of the dog in the fight as much as the size of the fight in the dog.

Even so, when you get smooshed into the end boards by a player who's got six inches and 30 pounds on you (which is merely average size in the show), you tend to disappear from view, at least temporarily. He'll likely never make it to the NHL simply for that reason, though God knows the kid has talent and no apparent fear of getting smooshed. He should've decided to be a forward instead.

He's also joining that super achieving bunch who get to the rink early to work, work, work, and study the finer points of the game, a quality he shares with Mr. Suzuki (the hockey pkayer, not the scientist and broadcaster).

Back in the day those guys were called “rink rats”… (no correlation to Florida’s rats ,, but maybe a bit re B Marchand). I remember dropping in at Garden City Arena in the afternoons and seeing Rick Dudley all alone on the ice working on his shots and skating skills,, then helping out with the ice flooding , scraping the edges along the boards. (btw, I believe he and Dale Tallon have a lot to do with the rat-pack Panthers success, as they did with Chicago and their Cup runs 10-15 years ago)

Yes, very exciting. Could’ve gone either way, but "closies" only count in horshoes,, although the Oilers might've had a horseshoe up their keisters by the way the winning goal went in.

Typically the price for the over-ripe ones is reduced anywhere 50-80%. 

[Got those figures from my wife, who went on to explain that it depends on the degree of over-ripeness.  Now, aren't you glad you never asked?!?!?!]

I jest bought a bag o’ over-ripe bananas for $2.13 ,,, , they aren’t brown yet , but damned if’n I’m gonna make banana loaf cake out of’em which is what the grocery store checker advised. Harumph…

The game was a lot less dramatic than I'd hoped, but I'm satisfied with the result.
