Correct, albeit with an insufficient description of the drama. Both were highly successful coaches who were defenestrated, and who snapped up their next gigs within a week. Butch went on to win the Stanley Cup his first year in Vegas; seeing Monty do the same - or even make it to the finals - would be a most entertaining pageant. The Great Molasses Flood may not be the deadliest, but it was indeed the weirdest man-made disaster in Noo Wingland history. Unless you count Bill Belichick's new girlfriend.

Outdoor rinks have certainly melted recently in Man-ee-toe-bah ,, with Melita having its title of Banana Belt stolen by Gretna. Mercy…! ,,,, the Jets will come home to an arena with soft, sloppy ice.

My mammy lived part of her childhood and all of her adult life in beautiful west-central Man-ee-toe-bah.  She said the only month she hadn't seen snow falling was July.   I mentioned this to a guy from here, and he told me that one year he was at Mafeking on July 1st. and it snowed a little bit.

We've had  a couple of hot days [low 30s]... a bit cloudy/cooler today but plenty windy yesterday and today.

If they come back with a  series lead ... methinks ice conditions will be a secondary consideration. 

Ooops! I mean't if they don't come back with the lead.   

However, apparently I'm getting ahead of myself [thought (?) next game was in Wpg.] ... looks like I should snooze less or pay more attention to the expert analysis.

Careful Chuck ..... Joe Jackson was from my hometown and his wife Katie was good friends with my aunt.  I used to go over to their house with her in the mill village where they lived and visit her.  Joe had since died.  He ran a liquor store in West Greenville where many of our mill villages were.  Joe was accused, and admitted taking money, but he sure didn't do anything on the field to throw any of the games.  In the 1919 World Series, he hit .375 with 3 doubles and a home run and fielded 1000% ..... not too bad.

Just now an expert (?) analyst on the Maple Laffs / Panthers broadcast came out with the oft-repeated maxim that, "The Leafs have to find a way to (fill in the blank) _____________ ."   Since he's the expert (?),  why isn't he telling us ignorant schmucks what that "way" is?

It's a long standing tradition.

As one Hogtown fan once put it, "When I die I'm having Maple Leafs players be my pallbearers, so they can let me down one last time."

It's also a Canadian unity thing - we're united in our hatred of Toronto!

(My animosity toward the Leafs isn't so much about the team as it is at the Toronto based Canadian sports media, whose obsession with the Leafs borders on insanity. But our daughter, born and raised in T.O., commented that she didn't see how anyone could cheer for a team that so disrespects its fans as to constantly put such a consistently losing team on the ice. Or. as someone said about the possibility of a team in York - just above Toronto - that way the GTA would finally get a professional hockey team.)

IMNSHumbleO, TO's teams are "okay" ... so long as they don't beat les 'abs, Oilers, Jets, the Yankees, or the Edm. Elks in straight up competition.
