Not sure,, I thought road game meant more defensive hockey to take the crowd out of it.
Having said that , the moan-Ray-all team certainly didn’t start tonight with the “road game” mentality - they blitzed Warshington

Best way to negate the crowd is by scoring goals .... the more the better! ....... but then that could lead to "skating around like you own the place" ... which leads to ... Ah! you know how that song goes.  devil

I've had coaches [try to] adjust strategy because of the [perceived] strengths/weaknesses of the opposition, but never due to the home/away rink, so far as I could tell.

Nuthin' to do with a "game plan" (?), but I liked a bit of strategy (?) one of our coaches pulled from the hat after an away game.  We'd won the wee bit chippy/rough/?? game, and on the final buzzer and without any notice he quickly had us line up along the goal line .......... and skate stops-and-starts.  The home crowd booed energetically, probably uttered a few vulgarities, and threw some programs and a couple of rubber chicken onto the ice.   Good times indeed!!

The arctic air in the Sioux Lookout Arena back in ‘73 was the opposition’s gamesmanship on visiting teams. It took me 45 seconds into my shift to get unlocked,, then another 15 seconds later back to the bench. (always did wonder if’n the SL team’s bench had heaters)
Can’t remember if the showers in the visitors' dressing room ("clubhouse" down yonder) had hot water …..

Now, how's this for "the code" ??  https://www.facebook.com/watch?v=1033889444738901   ... and Ridley Greig involved both times, IIRC.

That Stolarz/Greig tilt cracks me up every time I watch it.

And with that, back to our regularly-scheduled programming.

Methinks that goal review in the Jets/Blues game got it wrong. Two replay views looked like it was over the line. Maybe not 100% conclusive in their (war room) estimation.

From here in the suburbs of Winterpeg I thought it was in, but maybe not conclusive [enough], so I'm okay with their call.   Friedman says he looks forward to the day a "chip" embedded in the puck can remove the doubt.  But, I figure they'd still have to use computer diagnostics/analysis/??  .... if the puck was flat the chip would need to be 1.5" past the line; if it was on edge the center of the puck would only have to be +.5" across.**  But in '69 "they" put a man on the moon* so I figure it should be doable.

* with allowance being made that it might have been in a TV studio in Japan.  wink

** or they could go with the ol' red/white/blue sponge ball.... center is center is centre is sent 'er!!!

I think I'm gonna get confused again.   devil

Lots of "outrage" [cough, cough] when Reilly crosschecked Greig in the shoulder/side of the head but considerably less when Caufield takes one straight in the face.

Again, why not review ALL uncertain plays? That stick on the Capitals goalies head,, wasn’t Suzuki’s.

Well, the Habs played a good “home game”… but the Caps didn’t play a good enough “road game” ….

I wouldn’t think it’s a good idea to skate with my head down when Tom Wilson is on the ice

Personally, I don't think it's a good idea to skate at all when Tom Wilson is on the ice.

Lots of hockey this weekend! And it was fun. On Friday, I thought several of the series would be just about done by now. But nobody - NOBODY - is giving up easily. Great series so far!

Okay, okay,, enough about the TeePees, but ya know, sometimes it sparks a good vibe (outside of this august forum, I suspect). Johnny McKenzie’s daughter liked my comment on this FB page,,, how ‘bout them apples, eh? (btw, I’m sitting about 40 miles [^~ kilometres/kilometers) north of his hometown where he was known as the “Nanton Flash”.

Occasionally I've wondered whether there were more little  "Pie" rodeo riders or more little "Pie" hockey players runnin' around.

I thought I had McKenzie in my Beehive collection .... but apparently not ............   but, but, but I've got this dude, though I'm sorely disappointed that I had to find out through hockeydb.com that he also played with the TeePees.

Is the President's Trophy curse alive and well? St. Louis sure laid a smackdown on Winnipeg last night, forcing a Game 7...

A very perverse part of me would love to see a Vegas/St. Louis final. I have my reasons. See if you can guess what they are.

Methinks, Skip, it’s cuz both Blues and Vegas coaches once plyed their trade with da Broons.
(…or, Jackie would be doing their games….)
