Here's a tune recorded on Veteran's Day (thnx to all in service). gCGCD, no capo on my Buckeye. I missplayed the RRtF part each time but consistently wrong so other than an extra note?.. it plays along mostly OK.

My first song post. This is the song that inspired me to banjo, per Taj Mahal. I hope i've done it some justice here. 12" Ramsey Student gCGCE w/ a Snowball Blue mic into Audacity. Sorry, when I recorded this I didn't know about "Normalize" so the level is relatively low. Turn it up some.

This was written by and graciously posted by permission from Owen Duffy (Banjowen) thnx. I love this tune and it's a joy to play. In fact it's hard to stop. This is played on my Gold Tone HOAB with a calfskin head and nylon, monofiliment strings. That's right, monofiliment, it's not just for fishing anymore. Thnx Capt Mike. That's gGDBG capoed up two frets.

I'm not entirely sure why that title. I don't have a good reason. I could have written it any time of year but I didn't want to post it as "untitled". This is on my Ramsey Student, aEADE, that's drop C, capoed at 2, Snowball Blue into Audacity.

This is my first! playing with another instrument. This was worked out on the fly with Scott Williams on mandolin. I am playing my Ramsey Student. gDGBD capoed at the 2nd. We did not record at my place so I can't explain the recording set-up. I think it sounds good and clean. I have so been waiting to hear something along with my banjo and Scott adds additional swing. At least I think so. And it was a blast! Hope you like it.

inspired by Ric (Frailblazer) from his music file and tab. fCFCD on my new Buckeye Custom #92 Once again, I can't play it at Ric's speed so it has a different flavor. This is now my current favorite tune to play and play. Check the BHO tabs for this one. thnx Ric

This is a three song medley from Pete Seeger's "How to Play the 5 String Banjo" book. Can you figure out which three songs? This is recorded 6/25/2010 on my Buckeye Banjo. Key of A I think. aEAC#E

Here are two of the first tunes I learned combined w/ a bridge. This is key of G on my Ramsey Student and accompanied by Scott Williams on mandolin.

This is recorded 3/09 on my Gold Tone White Ladye. I've heard this more often played faster. This is the speed that I can keep up w/ and I think it sounds OK. I learned this from handwritten tab done by an instructor back in the late 70's. Audacity w/ Snowball Blue mic (it was much quieter then?). Tuning is gDGCD

Inspired by Mary Z Cox. From her video and tab. I only know from that source and I freely try to make it mine. Perhaps more correctly, I can't copy Mary. I certainly haven't mastered it but right now it's my current favorite song. As is often the case it swings along better as it goes along. Recorded w/ Audacity and a Snowball Blue mic. The banjo is my Jedson White Lady. Thnx for listening.
