Just plain old 2-fingered style, "borrowed" from Pete Seeger's tab in "How To Play The Five String Banjo", to which I believe he credits Pete Steele as his inspiration for the arrangement of this tune.

I just re-did this, but my version doesn't come close to Pastor Harry's very moving rendition of this beautiful tune. You need to go to his website, www.kidspot.org/pastorharry/ to hear it. It's worth the trouble.

A haunting song of the sea, recorded not only by MacColl, but also by The Dubliners, The Clancy Brothers & Tommy Makem, and Middle Tickle, among others. As much as I love the lyrics, I spare the listeners of my singing, and just play it on my Vega Tubaphone, plectrum style.
