All in the space of one weekend ...
1: I finally bit the bullet & sold my old 7 String English Minstrel Banjo to Hangout Member Rob MacKillop
It was not easy to part with it, but I knew I was never ever really going to do it justice and I know Rob will do wonderful things with it.
2: I put my old John Grey Autocrat up for sale. See photos. It has been a trusty friend for over 30 years, but it had to go to help fund my latest purchase. Anyone interested in the John Grey should check out Alan Hopkin's website
3: Yes folks, I've finally got my hands on a Paragon Tenor Banjo.
Many thanks to Dave in Musselburgh, for letting me be the lucky new owner.
So I'm just off to post a few photos here now!
Cheers
Dick

35 years ago my Grandad gave me his fathers Fiddle, so what else would I be doing now but playing music. Since then, I've played Irish & Scottish Music on my Fiddle & on a 1920s John Grey Tenor Banjo. Today, I am a full time musician teaching traditional music in local primary schools by day & playing all manner of gigs & pub sessions, including costume gigs at reenactment events, by night & day. I still play Irish Music on Fiddle, Hammered Dulcimer, Concertina & Mandolin but I have recently acquired two 5 String Banjos, a 1930's Windsor & an 1890's Stewart so I'm just about to tackle the joys of the Clawhammer Banjo. In recent years I have found myself being drawn more & more towards Old Time music. I ran my own Folk Club here for 8 years & when the Foghorn Stringband came one night, I was hooked! I've spent a lot of time on here & over on the SitG forum & I'm learning about Old Time music all the time. In fact I recently set up my own Forum over here ~ the "Old Time Music Forum (Europe)" & I'm learning loads from the very knowledgeable members who honour me there, with their company.
