Paolo Botti Born in Rome in 1969 lives in Milano Italy. I started studing classical guitar as a child and soon developed a great love for string and fretted instruments that lead me to practice many of them (violin, viola, guitars banjo, dobro mandolin, double bass and so on…). ‘Round the age of 20 I decided to dedicate myself to classic music studies on Viola and I graduated in Italin Conservatoir. After a brief period playing in synphonic orchestras I understood that it wasn’t my way, so I put all my energies on the music I really love and feel mine: jazz (expecially modern jazz and avant-guarde improvised music) but also blues and folk music. I Play in many bands here in Italy and sometimes I had the opportunity to play with some great musician from Us here in Italy (such as Dave Liebman, Dave Burrell, Maria Schneider, Steve Bernstein). I recorded more than 30 records (four as a leader) and play in jazz festivals all over Europe, north Africa and also China. In the last years I play beside my beloved Viola, tenor banjo (a wonderful Gibson Tb3 from 1930) a open back 5 str Bacon banjo (from the twenties) and a recent ‘original dobro’.
