I own about 12 banjos (down from about 20 a year ago), mostly Fairbanks, Fairbanks/Vega or Vega, four ?s Bacons, and a Richelieu Golden Eagle custom.....all of 'em 5-string. For the last couple years I've been playing my "RB-5 trapdoor" that I converted to 5-string from an original TB-5 trapdoor (see my photos). I was inspired to put this banjo together by a banjo that I purchased from Hangout member, David Foster, which has a Mike Ramsey conversion neck on it. Now I have two of 'em.

I am a violinmaker, formerly a banjo maker and have made some mandolins. nowadays I play mostly clawhammer banjo but played Bluegrass for years. I've been recently making Fairbanks copy necks, mostly #7 and #3 five string.
