The gold plated ca. 1935 RB-1with the flat head tone ring in it that I had gotten from Winnie Winston got stolen from my apartment on the lower East side of New York in 1965. If any of y'all run across it, I'd love to get it back. Don't have the serial number but then again, many RB-1's are lacking serial numbers anyway. Light finish 'seagull' Style 1 inlays with a Mastertone block at the usual location.
I've owned a lot of banjos since then and I'm one lucky son of a gun to be playing the '29 Granada I have now.
Update: ! !
Found the serial number 9527-16
And then, a few months ago ... I found the banjo and bought it back. Yep, and it's hardly changed at all and it sounds great and feels great with its original RB-1 neck. So that's what I'm playing mostly now.
