I grew up in rural central Minnesota, started playing banjo there in 1974, then moved to the San Francisco Bay Area in late 1975, where I've been ever since. I played banjo in the Cliffhangers (with Mark Simos fiddling), a once-a-year band that assembled at Clifftop each summer for many years, then dispersed to the four winds again. I also play banjo in Spencer & Rains and The Skeleton Keys, and as a West Coast member of Hog-Eyed Man with Jason Cade and Rob McMaken.
