I was noticing a lot of fret wear (I thought this odd, for only owning her for 7 months...). I did a bit of reading up, and the Deering website recommended using a lighter touch while fretting notes. I have been trying this out, and wow! It solves quite a few problems, actually. I feel less tension while playing, and I seem to be more accurate, to boot. Perhaps I was pressing too hard because of "learner's concentration". You know: If I fret the note really hard, it will be really right, right? wrong! lesson learned.

I just started learning clawhammer style banjo, and I love it! I would love to meet other clawhammer players, learn from others, and hopefully find a teacher in the Toronto area. I'd also like to learn a bit of Seeger-style picking one of these days.
