I was noticing a lot of fret wear (I thought this odd, for only owning her for 7 months...). I did a bit of reading up, and the Deering website recommended using a lighter touch while fretting notes. I have been trying this out, and wow! It solves quite a few problems, actually. I feel less tension while playing, and I seem to be more accurate, to boot. Perhaps I was pressing too hard because of "learner's concentration". You know: If I fret the note really hard, it will be really right, right? wrong! lesson learned.

Yeah, I also found that a lighter touch improves tone and articulation of the notes. Less mistakes, too.

That is a good thing to have in both hands, a lighter touch.

I agree...once you let go of the "death grip"...the learnin' comes easier and that sweet sound just comes rollin' out!!

Agreed! Now I just have to make it into a habit.

Lighter fretting also helps if you need to switch hand positions quickly, too.
