Sprang from my mother's womb in April 1931, in Brownwood Texas. Worked at various jobs, farm labor( Hoed weeds and harvested fruit in some of the best orchards and vineyards in California ), set pins in bowling alleys, pumped gas in gas stations, fought forest fires in the national forest service, was an assistant manager in a movie theater but got fired after one day. Dropped out of high school, but after 4 years in the marine corps, went to college, majored in mathematics and electrical engineering. Thanks to the generosity of IBM's fellowship program, ultimately got my Master's & PhD degrees. Worked mainly as a computer programmer and engineer in the aerospace industry. Started playing guitar in 1938, started playing banjo in 2001, when my wife bought me one for my birthday. Retired from IBM in 1992, retired from teaching computer science at the local community college in Charlotte NC in 2012. Love dogs and children, pretty much in that order. Can still appreciate the beauty of the female form, and make it a point to never drink a beer before noon, cause my one and only wife of 63 years wouldn't approve, and I dearly value her approval.
