Heard my first banjo in 1980 on the 4th of July in Pangburn Arkansas.. I had been playing on an old guitar about a year and was fascinated when I heard Bill Anderson from Little Rock Arkansas play! I told my Dad, "I want to learn to play one of them!" My first banjo was a $50.00 openback from an antique store, ( and yes I still have it!). My mother's Sister told my Mother "He is too stupid to learn a banjo". That was my driving force!! I had to prove that old heifer wrong! Within 3 years I was playing semi professional ans we played the 10th annual SPBGMA award in 1984! Since then I began building banjos. I build necks, and rims as of now. By next year I hope to be set up to produce my own resonators. I play with the same group for 25 years, The Arkansas Edition.
