I have spent the last year building fixtures and jigs and tools to duplicate the process of making a rim from start to finish! Well, I have finally got it done. I have started my retirement business early! I will be making rims! I make them from Maple - soft and hard, Beech, and Birch. I can make them from what ever you desire! i have a few sound files of a banjo that has ha beech rim in it. The newest OLD SPINNING WHEEL has one of my beech rims. I will be posting other sound files later. I have made for a few on the hangout here. I will be glad to share names so you can talk to them directly. I have their permission to do so.
Today I turned a beech rim down and recreated a pot to duplicate my TB-1 pot. Awesome sounding banjo!! I'm having a blast turning and doing rims.
I will be turning out semi finished necks by the spring. You can buy a neck and with all the critical cuts made and finish it yourself! I will keep my progress posted as i progress!!
