My name is Daniyel ben-Asher. I have a military background, but I didn't serve in the American armed forces - so I hope that I wasn't too presumptuous by joining here... I served in the Israeli Defense Forces, starting in 2003. My first tour of duty was as an infantry soldier (Nachal Brigade, 931st Battalion). I specialized as a sniper in the same unit for my second tour. After that I spent a few years in the security services in Jerusalem, protecting a minister in the Knesset (our parliament). I also served in the reserves here, as a sniper in an elite unit, up until about a year and a half ago. I once read a quote that I'd like to share, although I'm sure some folks here are already familiar with it (I used to think that it was from George Orwell, but I looked it up once, and it turns out that nobody really knows where it came from). Here it is: "we sleep safely in our beds because rough men stand ready in the night to visit violence upon those who would do us harm." Much respect to everyone here!

I was an Infantryman for over 20 years, which included 4 years in combat and hostile situations, 3 years hunting the Baader-Meinhof.
