Just back from the annual Cornish Bluegrass Festival and this was another first for me, tagged along with a mate, Meanbean on Hangout, who has been a couple times before....
Really didnt know what to expect during the festival but kicked everything off with numerous bands on the first evening, Sons of Navarone, 4 Wheeled Drive, Flats & Sharps and Harpeth Rising were particular favorites for me.
The following day we attended a several workshops, two of which being the banjo beginners and even the advanced, although attempted the advanced banjo workshop was somewhat out of my depth at the minute but nethertheless still very much enjoyable. The rest of the day was spent listening and watching jam sessions that just popped up everywhere and was amazed at how the groups grew throughout the day, talking to others was extremely valuable gaining so much knowledge and experience.
The weekend was certainly a great success and will most certainly be attending next year, hopefully may even be tempted to take the banjo out of the case and try some backup by them, but will depend on progress through the year.
Had a great time and would very much recommend this festival......6 comments
