New Huber VRB-75 Reno/Crowe

I was fortunate enough to pick up a beautiful new 2011 Huber VRB-75 with the Reno/Crowe inlays.....flying eagle on a rosewood fretboard and style 3 inlay on the peghead with Huber straight across at the top.  I always have been partial to mahogany and this has a mahogany resonator with a straight grain maple neck.  It is, by far, one of the best banjos I have ever owned and those of you who know me know that I have had ALOT of banjo thru the years.  The tone is incredible, up and down the neck.  Sustain is just right with that prewar type decay coming in at the right time.  The playability of this banjo is excellent.  Its a please to play and since I have gotten it I have found that my practice/playing time has increased probably three fold.  Where I use to try to pick up the banjo for at least a half hour a day I know find myself playing 2 to 3 hours a day.  Sometimes all at once and sometimes a half hour here, an hour there.   I love this banjo.   My next dream banjo is a Huber truetone VRB-G.   I have seen these Hubers and the craftsmanship and workmanship and quality is superior to anything out there in my opinion.   Steve and his crew pay attention to detail.  The only frustration I have with them is the length of time it takes to get a banjo built.  I think they are now 6-8 months out and sometimes that gets extended.  But beleive me, its worth the wait.   They are a great group of guys at Huber Banjos that really know what they want in a banjo.  They are all banjo pickers and I know you have heard Steve play and he is very underated out there cause in my opinion he is one of the cleanest, finest banjo players out there today.   Its only ashame that he doesn't have time to play in a group.   I loved his stuff with Kenny and Amanda Smith band.  Jim Runnels is also an excellant banjo picker and a great guy.  He has spend many an hour talking to me about banjos and stuff and he is very very knowledgeable when it comes to banjos and prewar Gibson banjos.  The rest of the crew, Bennie and Chris are top notch luthiers and Steve is lucky to have such a fine crew.  Enough said.  Jim Mulford, Riner VA

I am just like you ever since ive got it my practice time has more than doubled its just hard to put down it feels so great and sounds so good. Anyways Congratulations on your new banjo. Judd
