I own 2. aOrange Blossom 250 and a CC-OT. Had to upgrade bridge and tailpiece on OB250 (2002 model), but its well worth it. A real Bang for the Buck!

I have a BG250F and Maple Classic lefty. What kinds of bridges and tailpieces work best on these banjos?

I tried a variety of bridges, including Snuffy Smith and Katzeye, but had best luck with Golden Gate compensated bridge and just put a Golden Gate Clamshell tailpiece on the OB250, the old one bowed on me.

I've been meaning to look into a new bridge, so golden gate seems to work well a?

Thanks Cat! Was waiting for the owner but you beat him (and me!) to start the group!
Mine is a OT800 Longneck (see BHO Group!)

'Nineteen' seemed like such an odd number so, being the owner of two Gold Tones, I decided to increase the group membership to 'twenty'. Mission accomplished.

Older, Korean, WL-250 open-back here, currently setup with one of Steve Davis's walnut compensated bridges.

I have an OB-250 with a Z bridge on it. It's a good banjo for the money. My other banjo is one I put together using a Tenn20 ring, Tony Pass 500TS birch rim, Goldtone graphite neck, and Kat Eyz bridge. I'm using the OB-250 tailpiece on it right now. I haven't decided to stick with that or try one of the other styles. I'm looking at others, including a clamshell. Hey mtnpckr, how's the clamshell compare to the straightline your OB-250 came with? My OB-250 is a 2001 model so maybe my experience will be similar to yours.

It is easier to set up and holds tuning better than the bowed original tailpiece, but I haven't tried any others. I did try a Katzeye bridge but I think the compensated bridge is needed on mine.

I think my OB-250 could benefit from compensation as well, though my new one is just fine with a straight bridge.

Wow, have I enjoyed my Korean made WL250!
I recently backed off the tension of the head a great deal and dropped the "g" tuning down to key of "e." Great OT sound out of the ol' Ladyie!

Just found this group. Have been happy with my CC-100R, though the upgrade urge has been lurking in my subconscious lately :-)
