I picked up the guitar in 1969, got into flatpicking after hearing Doc Watson. That in turn led to bluegrass, which led to the banjo in 1977. Took a few lessons in 1978 from (and jammed occasionally with) a very good player named Dean, (who later joined the Air Force and ended up retired somewhere in Nevada.) Over the last few years I've spent a lot of time playing swing mandolin, banjo took a back seat. The lure of the banjo is back . . .
