Favorite musicians - Don Stiernberg, Jethro Burns, David Grisman, Doc Watson, Randy Scruggs, Merl Travis, Lester Flatt, Bill Monroe, The Blue Sky Boys, The Louvin Brothers, The Osborne Brothers, Slaid Cleaves and now my fingers are getting tired.

I picked up the guitar in 1969, got into flatpicking after hearing Doc Watson. That in turn led to bluegrass, which led to the banjo in 1977. Took a few lessons in 1978 from (and jammed occasionally with) a very good player named Dean, (who later joined the Air Force and ended up retired somewhere in Nevada.) Over the last few years I've spent a lot of time playing swing mandolin, banjo took a back seat. The lure of the banjo is back . . .
