As I posted on another thread, sugar and I are fast companions. So, with the risk of possible danger to my health ever an issue, I submit this morning for your approval this survey.
List, in descending order, your favorite 5 candy bars.
For me:
1.) Fifth Avenue - creamy chocolate and that crunchy center. Oh my. It is the Cadillac of candy bars. But it must be fresh! If it is over a month old, it's like chomping into plywood.
2.) Clark Bar - similar to 5th Ave., but a little more peanutty.
3.) Dove milk chocolate - And I will also include the dark chocolate in this one. Heaven on earth.
4.) Zero Bar - Coconut and cream.
5.) Reeses Peanut Butter Cups - Take a jelly donut, suck out the jelly and stuff a Reeses into the center and microwave it for a few seconds. It is almost obscene (And thank you, Dom Deluise.)
Wow. I just gave myself a sugar high writing this.
God bless
George

The occasional Payday for me :-)
Love the mix of sweet and a bit salty too.
inniepie - Posted - 02/13/2011: 07:48:39
I still like a Crispy Crunch or a KitKat...and I love M and M's peanuts
jwgreene01 - Posted - 02/13/2011: 08:05:24
My picks are: Heath Bar, Snickers, Reeses Peanut Butter Cup, Milky Way, Peanut M&M's
R Buck - Posted - 02/13/2011: 08:38:43
You notice how Hershey bars are pretty much off the list? It maybe cheaper to make them in Mexico but they don't taste as good. Years ago I would have said Hershey's Golden almond bar.
tinkersdam - Posted - 02/13/2011: 08:45:16
1.) Snickers (original only) 2.) Reeses Peanut Butter Cups 3.) $100,000 bar 4.)Hershey or Dove Special Dark 5.) Hershey Almond bar ...... but I'll pass up #2, 3, 4, and 5 ANYTIME for a Snickers. I never tire of them. And...with Valentine's day coming up...I told my DH (again) please do NOT buy me a box of chocolates...I don't care for 99% of what's in them.... but one Snickers would be immensely appreciated!

Wow. This made me think. I haven't ought a candy bar in years. My wife makes these chocolates where she takes dates, nuts and peanut butter and makes some concoction that eventually becomes the a little balls that are center of the candies. After it sets for a day or two in the fridge, she wraps each ball in chocolate. She makes a huge batch of these every year. She also makes her version of Ferrero Roche that is every bit as good as the real thing. No need to buy candy from the store.
dlc - Posted - 02/13/2011: 12:53:55
1. 3 Musketeers
2. U-No
3. Ice Cube
4. Reese's Cups
5. Nestle's Crunch Crisp
(U-No is really hard to find, though. They're around, but I haven't had one in years.)
Whatever happened to SUMMIT and BAR NONE? Those were truly chocolate ambrosia.
And it's not a candy bar, but does anyone remember the old Hostess Chocodile? It was like a Twinkie covered in this thick chocolate coating. They're really rare, and only made in a few cities now, but I did find them online: freshchocodiles.com/
Gotta get some of those!

Baby Ruth
Butterfinger
Milky Way Midnight
Jim Cannon - Posted - 02/13/2011: 13:13:25
Dark chocolate is supposed to be full of anti oxidents, whatever they are, but its supposed to be good for you. Eating yourself healthy on dark chocolate...that would be a medical mericle. Wishful thinking.
Compass56 - Posted - 02/13/2011: 18:58:26
I'm going 3 Musketeers first, then Reece's Peanut Butter Cup, then, Hershey's Plain Chocolate Bar. The only other one that I ever liked was the Caravelle bar which no longer exists.

I Like, in no particular order
- Coffee Crisp (probably the best thing to come out of canada ever)
- Whatchamacallit
- Kinder Bueno
Paul R - Posted - 02/14/2011: 06:00:07
I was a chocoholic and went cold turkey in '75. But, up until then my favourites were:
Cadbury's Dairy Milk
Caramilk
Aero
Coffee Crisp
Smarties
Glossette Raisins
Numbers two to four were made by Rowntree, which has since been bought out, as has been Lowney, who made Glossettes (and Cherry Blossom).
Check out this video to see where the stuff comes from:

Cadbury's Whole Nut
Cadbury's Dairy Milk
Cadbury's Fruit and Nut
Cadbury's Cream Egg
and if you're stuck even more Cadbury's.
All other chocolate (candy) is playing catch up.
Nancy - Posted - 02/14/2011: 07:41:51
Since I am a dark chocolate fan, I do not buy milk chocolate. I like the little dark Choc. Dove pieces. Little messages with the candy are also kinda neat.
gradelyduck - Posted - 02/14/2011: 08:22:52
I prefer Green and Black's, or is it Black and Green's 80% dark chocolate bar but, for every-other day chomping; a box of Celebrations. Once in a blue moon a Mars bar (not deep fried) or dark chocolate KitKat.
djingodjango - Posted - 02/14/2011: 08:37:46
You know Brian, I used to love Mars bars, but it is my understanding they are no longer available here accross the pond. Which is a shame. I'll trade you some fresh 5th Avenues for a few Mars bars.
Whatta you say? Is it a deal?
God bless
George

Am I the only person in the whole world
that remembers the candy bar named
seven up? It had seven segments of
chocolate each a different flavor .

I like the Ultimate S'more. Instead of a regular Hershey bar, use a peanut butter cup. I have not been the same since I tried it. I would camp in 20 degree weather, just to have one.

Easter chocolate was always from Laura Secord, chocolate bunnies and large butter-cream eggs. It took a few days to get through one of those eggs.

Dark chocolate with orange oil or orange peel or bits of ground espresso beans. Almonds dipped in dark chocolate and then coated with cocoa.
GarlicBreath - Posted - 02/15/2011: 22:28:10
Reese's cips
HeatH - I used to think it was H eat H like dog eat dog. Toffee rules!
Butterfinger - you'll need to wash your hands after eating it though, sticky!
Lindt milk chocolate (they actually sell small ones) actually has a smoky taste.
Cadbury's? Violet? Toffee? Soapy? Whatever it is, like a bubbly HeatH toffee but still crispy and smelling of violet. Dipped in chocolate. I include this because it's so WEIRD.
Tiger's Milk peanut butter flavor
Some kind of date-nut thing but it has to have peanut butter in it to be great, sprinkled with coconut and with a hint of licorice, that hasn't been invented yet.
Marijuana candy bar, also not invented yet.
GarlicBreath - Posted - 02/15/2011: 22:29:35
BTW you people who like Kit Kats, they're just C-ration chocolate, in sticks instead of a convenient round puck, for eating, trading, or throwing. No need to talk to your doctor, instead, talk to your local recruiter.
