Deepi stole my release papers from my colonoscopy yesterday. I think he's going to post pictures of my colon on the internet.

My house had white carpeting when we bought it. That was forever ago. It looks like crap now. Think 3 big dogs and cats and birds...
this afternoon I pulled up a corner of the now nasty off-white carpeting... only to find that the original 1947 hardwood floor under the carpeting is BEAUTIFULL.
5 hours later... and all that white carpeting, the rotten padding, and all the tack strips are in a big pile in my front yard.
Life is good, I really like my house.
JackJack - Posted - 04/13/2010: 18:53:28
We have hardwood. Winter has it's "cold feet" issues, but we deal. HW is cleaner and prettier and easier to keep clean. Sweep once a week, and mop once or twice a month.![]()
1four5 - Posted - 04/14/2010: 07:11:23
It's amazing how much of that "pet smell" went out the door with that old carpet!
dat - Posted - 04/14/2010: 09:39:58
we've taken all the carpet out of our house and put down tile everywhere except for the bedrooms and we've put down the fake hardwood laminate floor in the bedrooms

That looks like something I remember from the old Star Trek. I think they were trying to negotiate interplanetary trading rights with them.
Or have them for dinner.....I can't remember which. ![]()

edited for poor spelling and a general lack of wit....the spelling I could fix

I Like Pina Coladas
and Getting Caught In The Rain
that doesn't have much to do with anything but the song is stuck in my head this morning
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 04/15/2010: 05:41:11
I'm not particularly fond of pina coladas or getting caught in the rain.
But I do like brandy and gorgeous spring days.
dat - Posted - 04/15/2010: 05:46:31
I bought a bottle of presidente brandy bout 12 or 15 years ago when I went to mexico and haven't ever opened it, I bought a few other bottles of stuff that didn't last long
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 04/15/2010: 08:08:04
I'm going to England!
And DP said he'd return my colon pictures to me.
dat - Posted - 04/15/2010: 08:49:01
my brother is coming back from England around the first of june.
he was going to retire but they offered him enough to make it worth his while to stay, and he gets to go back to his house in Oklohoma unless he gets deployed again

I haven't heard from my ex-boyfriend recently. I got an email from him back in November. He's currently in Iraq. I hope things are going for him okay.
I don't know when his initial time is up, but he doesn't think he'll go back to do officer training or anything--at least that's what he said the last time I talked to him. He said something about being too old at 40 to do that sort of thing. I have to wonder how it was he didn't consider that when he first joined the army, but I guess that's pretty much his personality.
So he'll just go back to being a lost soul.
dat - Posted - 04/15/2010: 10:41:10
my brother is 41 and he said he was getting old enough to retire, he just signed up again, he said he's pretty much gone as far as he can unless he wants to stay in longer and try for chief master seargent
he's already made 4 trips to Iraq

Brian didn't join until he was like 36 or 37.
I'm not sure why he did join, except that it gave him an excuse to put off making other decisions about his life.

I took my retirement after 22 years as an E7. Best thing I ever did. Been playing music full time since![]()
1four5 - Posted - 04/15/2010: 16:30:01
Thanks dat!
I really wanted to stay in, but they closed my shop. My Choices were : move to another base (I had just payed off my house in Kansas), go back to tech school for 7-14 months and start all over with a new job description (I was a jet mechanic for my whole career) or take retirement. I couldn't fathom starting over, and I really like my house, friends, and where we live. Not to mention my band. My wife certianly didn't want to move, or me to go away again for training... so I took the retirement. That was 2 1/2 years ago. So far so good. We are not rich, but we are making it, and loving life![]()

Thanks! It's cool to be able to make some extra $ with our hobbies, but not need to count on them for survival. In fact my wife and I compete a little... her dog collar business vs. my gigs. This is her website: http://www.etsy.com/shop/HoundsCloset
dat, having a line on CMsgt at 41 is pretty darn impressive! I had just made TSgt at 41.
dat - Posted - 04/16/2010: 05:51:40
he got a pretty good resign, he has a house outside of Oklohoma City and he got transfered back to Tinker in OK City. his bride just made Msgt.
1four5 - Posted - 04/16/2010: 08:16:05
Small world! Tinker is where I would have transferred too, had I decided to stay in, and keep my original AFSC (job). Some of the the guys, and all the equipment from my shop went there. Wow... two senior NCO's married and getting close to retirement... they are going to be set up really nice for life!
dat - Posted - 04/16/2010: 10:07:24
ya'll may know some of the same folks, he was in the 33'rd combat communications out of Tinker when they first went into Iraq. he's been in England for a few years but glad to get back home, he used to be an air traffic controller but now he'll just be in an office with he feet propped up drinking coffee unless something messes up, then he'll get the blame![]()
1four5 - Posted - 04/16/2010: 11:38:09
I know a lot of the people in the jet shop there... but no one from the com squadron. Tinker is a HUGE place! I've been there once, and got totally lost.

Why does the military call things different? Wal-Mart = BX, Grocery store =Commisary, Liquor store = Package store, and Hotel = Billiting. And then there's that nutty way of telling time....
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 04/19/2010: 12:18:45
That's how they keep the rest of us feeling stupid.
At least I feel stupid a lot of the time and I don't mind blaming it on the military.
dat - Posted - 04/19/2010: 13:21:35
Oklohoma has the 3.2 beer, but you can get the full flavor on base or if you buy it at a store that doesn't sell it cold, I'ld ride over to the base with my bro and get the regular beer cold ready to go. but then again the hot beer doesn't take about 5 min riding in the cooler with ice to get cold.
that's back when I didn't want to wait to have a cold one.
JackJack - Posted - 04/19/2010: 13:21:47
It all so secretive. When they dress in civilian clothes, you can't tell who's military and who's a civilian. It's like Batman. Kinda. Maybe? Well, it's secretive anyway.![]()
Mr. Quimby - Posted - 04/19/2010: 19:02:17
I've had a lot of people assume I'm military. I think it's the short hair.
