Yesterday I was all dressed up and wouldn't you know, the couple of times I made sure to walk by cute guy's desk he wasn't there.

dat - Posted - 05/07/2010:  12:54:35

when he isn't there it's a good time to practice shaking you bottom as you walk by so you'll have it down when he is there

JackJack - Posted - 05/07/2010:  14:48:38

Since we're talking about what we're wearing.... I've got on my doc martins, red striped tube socks, army fatigue Burmuda shorts, holster, a bloody hockey jersey, snow scarf (green and black polka dot), and a red sweat band to match my socks.

I'm lookin' good!

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/07/2010:  15:04:10

Too bad you're married, Jack. You might tempt me to give up cute guy at work.

dat - Posted - 05/07/2010:  15:04:14

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/07/2010:  15:06:21

Of course, it would depend on what color your doc martens are.

Gigs! Just got home from a great party! I always wear my tony Llamas when I play out.

My poochie is sick. I've been through a couple of rolls of paper towels with him already. Right now he's living in the bathroom, since it's easier to clean.

I tried to make him rice tonight--it's supposed to be a bland diet to help settle his stomach--but I burned it. I'm such a failure as a cook.

1four5 - Posted - 05/09/2010:  01:05:39

Get well poochie!

that's why they invented take out

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/10/2010:  10:45:36

Yeah, I'm thinking I need to acquaint myself with the local Chinese delivery places.

dat - Posted - 05/10/2010:  10:50:18

there are two here in town that I don't mind eating from, they're probably just as nasty in the kitchen as the rest of the restaurants in town though, but they smell better when you walk in

1four5 - Posted - 05/10/2010:  10:57:05

I prefer Pappa John's for take out

dat - Posted - 05/10/2010:  11:42:21

Papa John's is good, just cold by the time I get home, that's the bad thing about living out of town, they don't deliver and it's cooled off by the time you can drive home with it

1four5 - Posted - 05/10/2010:  12:02:05

we also have an "Eat-in" Pappa John's with 2 large screen TVs

Whew... tornados to the south, tornados to the north, been a interesting evening...

dat - Posted - 05/11/2010:  06:47:40

hang on tight toto, you may not be in Kansas anymore

1four5 - Posted - 05/11/2010:  08:13:55

whew... still in Kansas! drying out today... sun shining!

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/11/2010:  09:06:03

It's cold and icky out here. And I didn't bring a jacket.

dat - Posted - 05/11/2010:  09:44:02

it's 80 degrees and the sun is shinning here

1four5 - Posted - 05/11/2010:  09:44:18

We put our jackets away until October

dat - Posted - 05/11/2010:  09:45:13

next week it'll be 98 and the sun will be shinning through a magnifying glass, then next month it'll get hot

JackJack - Posted - 05/11/2010:  10:21:42

I washed my car last Saturday in the blazing sunshine. Then it rained yesterday and a bird (must've been a big bird) pooped on my back windshield and trunk.

dat - Posted - 05/11/2010:  10:29:35

that's why I don't wash my truck, I figure once the mud dries I can drive down a rough road and most of the dirt will fall off, I keep the inside clean but don't worry much about the outside.
I can wash it at home and it's dirty by the time I get to town, if I wash it in town it's dirty by tyhe time I get home

1four5 - Posted - 05/11/2010:  10:49:56

We don't wash our cars in Kansas... or else a tornado will blow it away

dat - Posted - 05/11/2010:  10:52:57

in Kansas even if you don't wash your car a tornado may blow it away

JackJack - Posted - 05/11/2010:  11:55:17

Living in Kansas, I'll bet you've come close to vacationing in Oz many times.

Do you ever see Toto blowing around, up in the air, during Tornado warnings??

1four5 - Posted - 05/11/2010:  14:14:31

Yep, I have seen my share of tornados. I was on duty when the big one hit McConnell AFB in 1991. We were outside, and mesmirized. One foot wanted to run, the other wouldn't move. You can see tarps and insulation and stuff blowing around in them. It's pretty much just the way things are here. You have a basement and insurance.

JackJack - Posted - 05/11/2010:  14:33:21

I grew up in CO. I've seen my share also.

This one year, three got super close to the Denver metro area. One touched down within a mile of my house. At the same time, I was at the zoo with my girlfriend, and all the animals were squaking and everything. We didn't know it until people were all running by us looking back and up to the sky. We finally looked up and saw a second tornado was hovering right above us! It was sooooo close! Thank gosh it never touched down, or who knows what.

Every once in awhile, I'll still have tornado nightmares.

1four5 - Posted - 05/11/2010:  15:23:23

What sacres me are the people that live in trailers or in houses/apartments without basements. I couldn't do that.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/11/2010:  20:02:00

Around here nobody knows what to do in a tornado. We had some wicked storms a little over a year ago and there was a tornado warning and security on campus was recommending that we might want to move away from the windows but that was about it.

1four5 - Posted - 05/12/2010:  01:38:42

Look at the footage of all the damage on the news. Buildings ripped off their foundations. Usually all that's left is the main floor (no wall). Living here without a basement is not smart. You have to get below ground level. Even in the basement you want to be NEXT to something substancial like a couch or a work bench in case there is a cave in.

flake - Posted - 05/12/2010:  05:14:46

During major storms and tornados, we big-time ham radio types usually just get on the radio with each other and say things like..."You got any tornados there yet?" "Nope." "You?" "Nope...not yet. But it sure is windy!"
"'S'it windy over there?" "Yeah."

dat - Posted - 05/12/2010:  06:43:32

some serious talk going on with them radio type folks

JackJack - Posted - 05/14/2010:  12:28:21

I'll bet Niffer might like this.

It's a floating radio. Perfect for the swimming pool!

dat - Posted - 05/14/2010:  13:03:59

she'll have to get a new pool for her new house

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/15/2010:  19:54:19

Yeah, because I have plenty of room in my postage stamp sized yard....

One of the little trees in front of my house fell down this winter in the snow so someone tossed it into my yard. My dog keeps getting stuck on one side of it. I guess maybe soon I should take a saw and do some trimming on it even if I'm not going to have time to get rid of the whole thing soon.

Tonight I changed the locks. I have been completely defeated by the plumbing, though. I'm hoping Deepi will be able to help me with it soon, otherwise I'm going to have to get a plumber. As much as I'm spending to put on a new roof, I'd really not have to get a plumber.

1four5 - Posted - 05/15/2010:  20:14:14

Hey, it's good to know your fixing that roof!
If you've got a mom and pop ACE hardware store near you... go in and ask about your plumbing problems. It's amazing how much they know and how helpfull they are. I've fixed a lot of stuff myself with their advice.

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/16/2010:  19:05:47

Deepi emailed me back. He can come by probably Tuesday or Wednesday. I can wait that long.

The guy who is doing my roof seemed very nice. I might have asked him if he could help with the plumbing except he's wearing a wedding ring.

I need to figure out if cute guy at work is single and if he's good with his hands. I mean, like fixing things....

Mr. Quimby - Posted - 05/16/2010:  19:11:18

Oh, I think I forgot to share my latest yarn. Won't be doing anymore spinning for awhile until I get moved (I even moved the wheels to the new house already). But I had to spin up some of this first.
