I did receive the PM you sent. So that works.

I changed my settings to Smart notices a few days ago. I have not received any notice by email about your tagging me above. So that's broken.

Just a thought: have you tried changing your settings back to what they were to see if the notifications then work? Maybe it's something to do with your cell phone instead of something here at the Hangout. Worth a try??

Thanks for the suggestions Sherry. I use a flip phone, no emails on it. I retrieve emails on a HP laptop, nothing's changed on this end (as far as I know). I'll put settings back to what they were before, I had tried that once already but no harm trying again...

If it's any consolation, I AM paying attention. Problem is, I haven't figured out what's causing the problem, and thus can't fix it. Far as I can tell, it should all be working properly. 

There are two posters with similar user names.  One name is "paulr" (no space) and the other name is "paul r" (with a space).  These are the two that are getting mixed up

Wonder if some search or matching function or table look-up needs checking.

Yeah, I get that. The problem is, I don't see how that could be messing things up.

For example: your usernams is Alex Z. There's an AlexZ user here as well (although their account is locked). I bet if you log in, you're taken to your correct homepage... right?

The problem on my end is, I can't re-create Paul's issue. And there's no code I can find that would be causing it.

Have you tried completely logging out of your BHO account, completely purging browser cookies, then signing in again? I wonder if there's some weird corrupt cookie issue happening that's a holdover from when we first made the server switch (although, looking at the code, even the issue we had back then wouldn't cause what you're saying.)

If the issue persits, please post in here the full URL of the page you're taken to after you click to log into your BHO account.

The mystery is that the login is an email address now, not username.  So while  username shouldn't have anything to do with the mix up of identity, that's the only information available to me that seemed to cross over. 
 

Back in the olden days when I was diagnosing customer computer problems over the phone, it wasn't unusual for the customer to skip over describing some information or printed characters or a sequence of responses that they felt were irrelevant and would be of no use to me.   Kind of like a patient ignoring symptoms because they think it doesn't fit the medical diagnosis.

Just FYI, I just logged on and the problem persists. Odd situation. We're both males, both 80 years old, both have last names ending in "ell".

Cutrous. I can't be of much help as I'm just a computer user, with very limited technical savvy. I hope a solution can be found.

I'm gonna guess that Eric's familiar with regexes, but that the way the site is structured, they're either not used or not useful when finding the index/user.

Yep.  But so what, I'm not the one with the problem.  It's not a univeral problem, just for one person.  That's the mystery and the difficulty -- what is different and unique for this one person?

Just FYI, the problem persists, and this after clearing all my tabs.

Edited to add: Would/might it help if either/both of us changed something in our profiles?

You might try changing your username to something different. That hopefully, would take care of the problem.

I completely shut off and yet it still persists.

You might try changing your username and see if that stops the problem.
