Thanksgiving dinner tonight: turkey, dressing, gravy. roast potatoes, mashed potatoes, roast carrots, Brussels sprouts with bacon, buns, squash. Niagara wine (Reisling), cherry cheesecake. Enough?

Happy Canadian Thanksgiving to everyone.

It was venison sloppy joes last night. I’ve got a pretty good (tough stomach) when it comes to eating, but two things tear me up…………bananas and sloppy joes. Sloppy joes are my favorite ( what I ask for for my Birthday) .
I normally take a pill if I’m eating them but forgot last night. Trust me when I say that won’t be happening again. WOW, just WOW!!!
Damn good sloppy joes though!!!

Last night we served a German dinner for our daughter’s birthday, (a long standing tradition). Sausages, spaetzle, fried cabbage/drenched with Maggi, and brown rolls-courtesy of Cheesecake Factory. For dessert I made an apple gateau with a black walnut glaze, from the black walnut harvest I busted my bottom processing. Brad

I'll explain...

We go shopping fer steaks n beef..all kinds..

On a Major hollahday..Christmas..Thanksgiving 4th of July..n others..

Get to the store of choice at apx 2:30 pm..

Meats get marked down..by as much as 70%..mostly at least  50%...

We  stock up..n..try..to buy nuff to make it to the next Major hollahday..

Whole..Bone in ribeyes..i cut n package meself..

The cost of doing this is wayyy...cheaper..

Same with turkey after Thanksgiving..n Christmas... :0)

Tablecloth was brought over by her Oma in the 1930s.  Marilyn still loves to put a table together, and works too hard doing it.  I am sure her upper back is a wreck today.  I do a lot in the kitchen, but I am only in the way when it comes to setting a table.  Getting old is not for sissy's, eh.   Brad

Meatloaf is not found much in this home, but, when we drive up to Merrickville (on the Rideau Canal, near Ottawa) we have lunch at the Goose and Gridiron, and I have the meatloaf there. Really good! Once I wade through the mashed potatoes, I have enough room to absorb one of the two large slices. Time to get the container to take the other one home.

Tonight the Mrs. made shepherd's pie. Well, maybe cowherd's pie - made with ground beef.

I enjoy a good shepherds pie.  Cowherd will do though.

When Mrs. Slammer won’t be home for dinner, it’s time for one of my old “favorites “ !!! SOS to my hearts content!!! The 2nd plate was even better than the first!!! I still remember the first time I ever had it. My Aunt and Uncle were babysitting me and I was 8 years old and my uncle was just out of the Marine Corp. and my aunt made his favorite meal. I idolized my uncle , so naturally it was my favorite too.
Having the leftovers today with a couple over easy eggs on top for breakfast.
Slammer!!!
