It is heavy..n made for bench shooting

Test ammo with the 82 grain boolits i made from 22 magnum cases..
2000 fps..
N thos are the dies both sizing n now a seating die..
The sizing is from an old school 22 hornet size die..that was wore out..the seater die is from a blank I bought..it was stoopped cheap.....n saved me a boat load of machine work...

Both work pretty ok...:0)

The size die has no expander.. n the cases last longer that way..as they are not worked all that much..Just gets squoze..down to proper diameter..
The hornet brass is rather thin..n less working is better imo..

The seating die keeps everything strait..in the neck while seating the boolit.. ;0)

Picked up an old 25 stevens barrel..wanna try to make a 25 hornet at some point..in the near future..

Coupl'ah old guns to fix up n play with.. fer now both are .22's

Here is another little antque action I picked up..
Best i can figger is it was a .32 rimfire...
So I'm gonna work around that..
Pretty sure I gots a correct barrel in that caliber.. of a wwll jap rifle..

Made springs n cut a .22 barrel..

It is what is refured to as a boys rifle..
22 shorts n low velosity rounds..

Liz eyeballed it.. n showed intrest...

Spring outa and old saw blade..

Found an old beater stock that fits pretty ok....

Went with a differnt beater stock..
This one was all broken so fixed it up a bit..
Nice little pistol grip shape..n..a bit smaller..
Fits the mother of a boy's rifle better imo.. :0)

You can see the repair better on this side it was broke in two..

More done on the stock n the forearm is cut..

Got more done on the truck today... :0)

I do not know who made this little rifle action..
If you know or a guess please chime in... please.

It is not a drop block or a falling block..
The breech n lever are all in one piece..n swings on a single pin..

Testament to a by gone era. You’re not just showing up at a shooting range with the newest 8-36-70 scope with the 34mm tube, the latest Doppler chronograph with the updated ap, and a rifle that looks like something from a Star Wars movie.
Very little of that kind of stuff impresses me. Not knocking it, and if that is the stuff someone else does enjoy, more power to them.
What you do with these projects is demonstrate, well, a number of other dynamics.
It might look simple, but it’s not. It’s really not.
These projects you turn out really should be in a museum.
It tells us and shows us a different era, not long since past. This is how men, used to think and use skill, simply to survive.
I was lucky to live through the tail end of those times. I saw it.

Makin tin cans bounce..Is reather satisfying...

Low velocity..low noise..
N..no rickershets with the spatterless bullets..
Plenty nuff pest control too.. ;0)

Sights came in..had to make the elevator tho..
All zeroed as of now..:0)

Here is an old R Murdock 22 rimfire..
From the National firearms co.
Had to free everything up n make a firing pin fer it..
Got it to function..n fire.but the bore resembles a sewer pipe more than a rifle bore..
It will function with low power cb caps..
But the chamber is too enlarged to handel much more..
I can try setting the barrel back a bit..n.that might help....but the whole barrel is rather..tired..
Thee stock is broken..n..the forearm is missing..n i need to make a v spring to complete the whole deal..

Also a nice feature of thilese little rifles is they can be takin down for backpacks n such...
Made a new firing pin..test fired..
Opted to set the barrel back ..
N that improved all functions..

I figger this gun must have a million 22 short rounds through it..
The bore cleaned up..a..bit....

N the bullets still fly without tumble..
N it did ..zero..
But that is one tired barrel... :0)
