I surmise silvertip = Ursus arctos horribilis .... though they do have one regular (?) bear ... being drafted 13th overall tells me he's not entirely horribilis. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carter_Bear

eagleisland & of course, Jackie, being a transplanted Canuckess, would admire your difficult shift in loyalties.

Nope. He's not a team.
This is true, but it's becoming increasingly obvious how important he is to the team.
Somehow I missed most of ^^.
[i.e. Chicoutimi 3 - Kelowna 2 (OT). ]
Though I suspect "everybody" 'cept me already knew/knows, I finally decided to "look it up" ....
Saguenéens (or "Sagueneens") is a French term that literally means "People from the Saguenay". It refers to the natives, residents, or inhabitants of the Saguenay region or the city of Saguenay in Quebec, Canada.
The Local Hockey Team: It is the nickname of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens (colloquially known as the "Sags"), a major junior ice hockey team yada, yada, yada.
Now, aren't you glad you didn't ask???

Once again, everyday's a school day: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chinook_Jargon ![]()
I know some will be upset over this tidbit, but in regards to Michif, my sister [who was married to a "real" Metis] described it thusly: They're trying to talk French, but when they come to a word they don't know, they just use the English word. [That's her story, and I'm stickin' to it.]
Fwiw, in our household a chinook is any significant increase in temp. on the thermometer on the back deck since the last time I looked ['cept when the sun is reflecting from the patio door onto the thermometer]. ![]()
Has a new paradigm been established while I was finding other things to do/watch during the pre-game stuff?? I see the Hurricanes and Canadiens are both allowing (?) their goalies to stand in line with the other starters during the singing of the anthems.... almost as if they are a real (?) part of the team. Thin edge of the wedgie?? ... who knows where this could lead??

Originally posted by NopixI can see it coming. I don't like the off season. I can't seem to find a baseball team, that finishes their checks.
If one knows the right places to look, the off-season can be nearly as entertaining as the regular season, what with all the machinations of trades, contracts, debauchery immediately following the last game, development camps, etc. The pace is slower, but the chicanery continues until the puck drops.
One of my old favourites passed away today. Playing under his brother’s fame was never easy, but he carved out a good career. After retirement he went and earned a degree at Brock U. and coached & lectured at Illinois Tech; also hit the sports banquet circuit with hilarious monologues. RIP Dennis Hull.
“ CHICAGO (AP) — Dennis Hull, the two-way NHL forward who starred alongside superstar older brother Bobby Hull with the Chicago Blackhawks and helped Canada win the 1972 Summit Series, died Friday night, according to brother Garry. He was 81.
Nephew Bart Hull confirmed Hull's death on social media Saturday, and the Blackhawks followed that with a statement from owner Rocky Wirtz. No other details were available” (that should be Danny Wirtz - his father Rocky passed away 3 years ago)

I looked it up
“Yes, Andy Bathgate was instrumental in the formation of the NHL Players' Association (NHLPA) in the early 1960s.The Push for Joining: While players like Ted Lindsay had started laying the groundwork for a union earlier, Bathgate took responsibility for rallying the New York Rangers players to join the association.Management Backlash: His advocacy for player rights angered Rangers management, and Bathgate was eventually traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs in 1964.Broader Legacy: His friendship with Leaf teammates aided further union-building efforts, cementing his role in early player advocacy.”
