H. O. is Oscar Jenkins' son. Oscar played with his own father, Frank Jenkins & EV SToneman on 78s recorded by Jenkins Pilot Mountaineers (there's a Document CD of this great music). Grand daddy Frank recorded fingerstyle mastepieces Baptist Shout & Home Sweet Home with DaCosta Woltz' Southern Broadcasters with Tommy Jarrell's father Ben on fiddle. Oscar Jenkins played the banjo with Fred Cockerham & Tommy Jarrell on the County 3-LP series On the LP covers you can see that he also played a 1950s "Flyswatter" Peghead Bowtie RB-250---back when the 250 was one great banjo! So, this was H.O.'s father's and grandfather's banjo. (a late 20s Gibson RB-1) H. O. plays fiddle & won 3rd in the senior division/Fiddle at clifftop. Here he is fingerpicking Sunny Home in Dixie in his own version of the Jenkins family 2-finger style. He braces 3 fingers as he picks with index and thumb.

Got to meet H.O. and play the Gibson for a while. What a treat. Mr Jenkins fiddled a couple of tunes as well. Ain't Clifftop grand!?

Traditions are not all glamorous, they are the thread of life.  Thanks Gail.  As for Clifftop, so much going on and so little time.
