Took me 5 hours to quickly and cheaply cobble together this banjo. http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/300085/2/#3798555 Fishing line for strings, eyebolts for tuning pegs, plastic soft drink bottle tacked and heat-shrunk for a head. Tried a bit of strumming, a bit of Seeger style, and some simple Bluegrass rolls.

Ken asked if anybody knew the lyrics to FMB, so I made some up. Don't like 'em? Make up your own! That's how Woody Guthrie made his money.

Nylon fishing line might not be LOUD enough for outdoor busking, so I put on D'Addarrio 10,12,16,24w,10

Salad bowl body, plastic head cut from a giant container of UTZ Cheese balls. WIper blade steel strips glued on for frets.D'Addario light guage strings. Not bad for $30 in parts, and less than 8 hours labor.

The "TUNE" portion was written by somebody else, but the arrangement is by me. And I made up the SPOKEN part as I went along.

Sliding the capo from ZERO fret to 12th fret, with a simple in-and-out roll, to show how the full-length 5th string stays in relative tune to whatever key the other 4 are capoed to.

Testing the Railroad Lady banjo, so it seemed a good idea to do a song that included a train in it. My arrangement of their song, no lyrics. Hope that's not an infringement.

This is the $25 Harmony guitar I butchered down into a 5-string. Here's the thread: http://www.banjohangout.org/topic/256272

Just wondered what a six-string banjo/guitar would sound like, without the THUD THUD of the two fat strings. So I replaced the 6th with a first, and the A with a B, tuned a note low.

Actually, Cripple Creek, but PLAYED on a banjo that I cobbled together between 8 AM and 7PM, with a few breaks, in one single day.

Cripple creek, played on the Happy Cobbler banjo, but with a tighter head and a lighter bridge.

Played on a fretless Squared Eel Model P banjo-uke, with 30, 50, 40 & 30 lb fishline for strings, and a 2-liter soft drink bottle heat-shrunk for the banjo head. I think the top nut may be too high.

CAUTION: This is not your typical Gospel tune. It suggests that we break a Commandment or two. If you're likely to be offended, skip to some other tune. The ODDEST thing about this is that the chorus came to me in a dream. It's not often that I can write a song in my sleep!

Trying out the White Knight travel banjo, made from a First Act electric guitar. Since this was recorded Dec 23, why not try some seasonal favorites? Not bad, for a banjo with a three and three-quarter in head.

CRIPPLE Creek, played on the Squared Eel banjo. An outhanger helped me get the (expletive deleted) "Audacity" and "Lame" programs to work. In her honor, I renamed it "Lame Creek." Please see the Squared Eel in my photos. Better yet, here's a VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=97EfvhFgRBY
