My uncle Joe (Zeke) Reitzel (passed away February 19, 2000). Joe was absolutely amazing, doing some incredible Reno licks with his thumb pick. Considering Joe's long musical history, it may be more appropriate to say that Reno played Joe's licks (but that may be sacrilege to some). To learn more about Zeke, see the book STRING BANDS IN THE NORTH CAROLINA PIEDMONT, by Bob Carlin (Published 2004 McFarland).
As with everybody else, my foundation is Earl. Thank you Earl!
Pete Wernick has always been an inspiration to me. I would not be playing today if not for him and Tony Trischka. Their books with the little plastic records (70's/80's media) kept me learning along with the original BNL. Alan Munde was another who turned me on to workin' out those Fiddle tunes.
Favorite Luthier: Matt Rogers - what an incredible talent!
