Loved banjo since I first saw Pete Seeger and Grampa Jones. Started playing late in life, but love the sound. I started playing 3-finger, didn't like how I sounded so I put my Saga in the closet for 14 years. I took it out in 2004 and pretty much taught myself clawhammer. I LOVE clawhammer and it's period correct for pre-1840 rendezvous. Some people even like to hear me play. I also play a Tub-O-Tone washtub bass purty good. Since I've recently relocated to Branson, I'm finally meeting people who know a little about my choice of instruments and style. I've always played by myself, for myself and pretty much taught myself. I now find that I've needed to get out more! My, mostly self taught, skills are purty good, I just haven't been exposed to NEARLY enough songs or musicians. People here love to listen to the few songs I know, I just need to learn a lifetimes worth more songs to play, maybe to actually open my mouth to sing and to play nice with others. I hope now to live long enough to accomplish that.
