I was trying out a banjo today for a friend of mine in a small shop here in Shelbyville, TN. minding my own business and playing some songs I know when a gentleman walked up and said " that banjo sounds good and you play better than most banjo players I've heard around here. What do say we get together and play sometime." My first thought was you don't know many banjo players now do you? Well, I said thank you and OK and I thought well at least I played those five songs I know pretty well. It was nice to get a complement though.

Grew up in Pikeville, TN around a lot of Bluegrass players. Tried the guitar in my younger days but didn't interest me. Now, I'm 46 my son is playing Guitar and my daughter is playing Piano and Clarinet. I have always liked the sound of a Banjo so I thought I'd try my hand at Banjo. I've got to say I wish I had done this years ago. I'm taking lessons and we practice every Wednesday night for 4 hours. The time just flies by. I can't practice enough. I have a banjo at the office and at home. Hopefully, I'll get good enough to do local jam sessions.
