I play a Rich & Taylor Terry Baucom model and also own a mid-80's Sigma SB-250 made in japan that I started out with as well as a 1948 Bacon Belmont 5-string
Favorite Bands/Musicians:
as far as bands go I like about every style of bluegrass especially Hylo Brown and the Timberliners from the 1950's with Jim Smoak. I could go on forever here but some of my favorite banjo pickers are early Earl Scruggs, J.D. Crowe, Sonny Osborne, Jim Smoak, Jim Mills, Sammy Shelor, Steve Dilling, Terry Baucom, Dave Evans, Ron Stewart, Dick Roach and Johnie Lewis

I started playing banjo in 1986 and in 1989 I went to work for Hylo Brown right after my 18th birthday and played for him until he passed away in 2003. During that time I also worked about 4 years part-time with Emma Smith, filled in with Lowell Varney and also the Boyd Brothers. Through the years I have filled in with a number of regional bands from Eastern Kentucky and Virginia. In 2000 when Hylo's health declined and he wasn't playing as many shows I started with Lonesome Ride from Oak Hill, Ohio and stayed with them until around 2010. The first of 2013 I started with the band Turning Ground, based out of Salyersville, KY.
