This is really something weird.
I have been away from the Hangout for quite some time and then all of a sudden I get a Friend's request that brings me back. Here's the kicker; I decide to listen to one of the song's I had posted last year and discover that it is exactly one year to the date since I posted the tune ("Dear Departin'"). Coincidence? I think not.
I hate to say it, but, except for a few times here and there, I have been playing more keyboards than banjo. I don't really know why, I just kind of lost my way. Maybe it's time for me to return and maybe even write some new stuff. Anyway, glad to be back.
Mike

Been playin' guitar for over thirty years, picked up the electric bass a decade ago and loved it (still do). My son got interested in banjo, I bought one for him, but he kind of lost interest and I fell in love with the instrument. I pick with my fingers as I'm trying to learn picks, but I'm mostly a clawhammer player. My dream banjo would be a Deering Tenbrooks but I'd be happy with a Sierra, as well. I also like the Rob Bishline Cardinal (played one at Elderly and absolutely fell in love with it) and would like to try a Huber Jim Mills or Huber Kalamazoo. I love my Deering Goodtimes II and enjoy my cheap Epiphone MB-100. Oh, and I also wouldn't mind a Gold Star GF-85; played one at Elderly, as well, and it was fantastic -- I could not believe it was under a grand. Thanks to my special buddy, David, my son, for getting me into this instrument. Both my kids can now play a basic clawhammer bum-ditty strum, which fills me with pride.
