Greetings from Minnesota! I enjoy playing guitar, bass, banjo, dobro, and mandolin. Playing music is fun and time just flies when playing. Jamming can be fun if the folks playing don't get all hung up on 1 style of music or playing a song exactly like "so and so" did. I play in a bluegrass gospel band (vocals, guitar, banjo, dobro) and in a blues/rock n' roll/country band (guitar & vocals). I can't think of too many better ways to spend my time than making music. Since my later life venture into the world of banjo playing, I've acquired a few banjos. My first banjo was a Fender FB55, which I no longer own. Next came an Alvarez 4300 (Denver Belle), a fine banjo that found a new home with a friend in Bergen Norway. I nursed a 1981 Deering Deluxe that I bought off ebay back to life after it was extremely neglected by its previous owner. I bought a Gold Star H&F, a terrific banjo, then a Nechville Classic, another terrific banjo, then a Wyatt Fawley RB 250 creation. Next I added a Deering Hartford when I traded a very nice Larrivee D60 for the Hartford. My most recent acquisition was when I unexpectedly won a bid on ebay for a Deering Maple Blossom. I have fun going back and forth between these banjos. I learned a lot about banjo set up in my efforts to revive the Deering Deluxe and undo the terrible set up of the Fender FB55. Thanks to the knowledgeable folks here on the BHO I've learned a lot since I bought my first banjo as a total rookie. A future endeavor will be to see what I can do with a fiddle. I worked 35 years as a teacher and varsity wrestling coach, but am now retired from that career. I am immensely enjoying the musician path I've been following since retiring.
