Just realized that I haven't written in a bit - I know how stressed out that makes you :)
I took a summer break from lessons, planning to pick back up when my summer "busy season" is over - hopefully around mid-September. My real job sure does a number on my banjoin'...I have to figure a way around that...
I'm still picking at least an hour a day. I've been working out with my online buds - Banjo Ben Clark mainly, but several others. I *feel* like I'm getting better each day - still not ready for prime time, but the picking is getting easier for me, and I find myself stretching into songs that I used to think were unreachable. I was sitting in church this last Sunday finding myself picking along on my air-banjo with the songs that were being played, wondering why none of them were bluegrass :).
I'm at the in-laws in California, wondering why I didn't try to bring my banjo. I know it's a hassle with the airlines, but boy it sure would be nice to have my old friend with me.
I think I'm ready to play with other people...I'm getting a little bored playing by myself. I'm thinking about putting up a Craigslist ad looking for others in my area (South Denver Metro - anyone?) that would like to get together every now and then for a little fun. Lessons are great, and it's fun to have Matt there with me, but that's a lesson - I'd like to have a little impromptu jam session one of these days....
