I know from Stelling website the Golden Cross is the first to have the pattentef peghead but does this mean Stelling had another style they were using first or just didn't have the patten yet? I saw the new Crusader peghead . Sweet!

	Geoff Stelling says: 12/22/2014 10:01:38 AM I had a totally different design for the peghead of my first two banjos. The 2nd through 8th were designs approaching #9's but differed in some ways. Ironically, I have #9 in the shop now for an overhaul and I did note that the overall length of the #9 peghjead was slightly shorter than our current one, mostly due to the modified volute of the more modern banjos since the late '70's. The earlier volute was so posioned under the nut that a capo could not be stored in front of the nut as is usually done these days. Once Greg Deering left the shop in Nov. 1977, the volute shape and position was changed to what it looks like today.
