I have a loan of a Harmony Banjo at the moment. But the plastic key on the 5th string machine head has split so will not keep the string tight. It is beyond me why anyone would deign an instrument like this and that because they used such a cheap piece of material to make the key means the entire instrument is now useless. I mean how much more would it have added to the sales price to use metal for the key?
I am digging around in my toolbox trying to find something to jerry-rig a temporary replacement, while cursing the Harmony design team soundly ;)
