Seeing as I am on a roll with open backs (sorry), For the sake of argument anyone in their right mind would use vellum, Ho ! Ho! Ho !. and plays up neck with a scoop, gets better eh ?. 11 ' rim not say 12 " (or others). 3/16" string height, gut for strings er no!.. no! ... no! ... stop here.
But would you go for some style of tone ring or not, thin rim or 3/4 inch rim. And what bridge ?. Forget strings for now. Obviously it all depends upon an individuals "ears" and playing style.
OK !, for simplicity lets say 3/4" rim, calf skin, "heavyish" non tipped bridge
Or, thin rim, tone ring, tipped bridge ?.
Or both ? or combination or .......
