Hi to all group members.

Any advice would be welcome. I have a WL 250 + , and am thinking of changing the head to an calf / goat skin one. I'm after that plunkey sound. At the moment I have fitted a Remo fibreskin head. While better than the standard frosted head, it's still not anywhere near what I'm after. please can anyone point me in the right direction?

	cotton picker says: 3/16/2014 11:15:17 AM Hi Robin, Thanks for the info. Just got to get that sound. I've fitted a graphite bridge, it got me halfway, only problem is the banjo is a little too quiet. I'll fit an velum head, then may need to experiment on the bridge. Thanks very much Helsby

It has prejudiced me against non skin head banjos, I do not think banjoes are supposed to have a plunky sound and I do not know of any design element in the creation of banjos that aimed for them to have a plunky sound. Of course old time revivalists with their paternalistic fantasms about banjo playing think banjo playing is osmething soft, soggy, wimpy, weak, frail, delicate and antique, rather than driving, dynamic, rumbling and powerful which is the development that the design of banjos took from the mid 19th centuryt o the pleasant.
