Asking advice about skin head

From Torben Pedersen on 7/1/2012 12:50:59 PM

I have a Gold Tone OB250+. Two month ago, I chanced the skin head. It`s a remo weather king. I`m not satisfied. The banjo have chanced the sound. The diametre of the skin head is correct. But it`s laying 3 millimetre lower, than the first skin head I had. The strings can be there withouth scratch...even they are laying a little lower. But I think that`s  the reason, the banjo, have chanced the sound.

Do anyone have some experience with skin head, to your Gold Tone ? - I don`t like transparant skin. - The sound I like on the banjo, is a soft clear sound.

Thanks for any advise and experience.

Torben

There has been a few comments lately on the forum and the AMB skinheads seem to be very popular. Go to this link.

Toben,

I recent;y bought a goat skin made by one of our best members, John Balch. It is a new medium thick 11 inch pre-mount that is coffe and coffee grounds stained. Looks great.

You might want to consider Jons pe-mounts.

Thanks Shannon. - I ended up to buy a Remo weatherking High B1096 Coated. I mailed Gold Tone to ask what skin head they put on from start. They were very helpfully....so now I have the same type,as from the beginning.
The best to you.
Torben
