Where is the ability to trash a post that was made or to edit a post?
morph2o - Posted - 09/12/2017: 19:47:14
i like the look, but there is a big empty space down the right hand side
double E - Posted - 09/12/2017: 19:56:28
Sorry, I have to say I like the old one better. At least the classified page. I think it was much easier to see and I liked the old side bar listing. Never have been to much on change I guess. It may grow on me but right now, no likey.. EE

I am having trouble with the "reply with quote" button. A screen for writing comes up but it won't accept my typing.
also i cannot find the list of threads that i have made recent comments in.
Also is there the some editing buttons to use when writing comments.
Also is how do you put live links on here, just paste them in?
From Greylock to Bean Blossom - Posted - 09/12/2017: 20:39:05
Also it seems like the person's age and playing ability have been removed from their hompage as well as favorite musicians & types of banjos. these were good ways to check people out.
From Greylock to Bean Blossom - Posted - 09/12/2017: 20:40:45
Also my friend feed at the right hand side of my main page is not up to date. It shows no activity for the past 6 hours and just one person listed.

I tried adding a new blog post, but for the body entry, there wasn't a text box that came up for it.
Bradskey - Posted - 09/12/2017: 21:21:39
Not a fan, experience seems diminished. But I don't like change (or surprises). I really haven't liked anything about the space-wasting toddler-like mobile-friendly interface design trends of the past 5-10 years (and I work in this technology), so I'm always suspicious of these changes. Call me a cranky curmudgeon. I can be patient though.
For something semi-constructive...
I want to collapse or remove that thing wasting my screen space on the right (some feed? I've never cared about). Don't assume everyone uses or wants that feature. I really could not care less that some random person I friended umpteen years ago posted something on a topic I'm not really interested in. It's cramping the space for the discussion content on my screen, means more scrolling. This ain't facebook and I don't really need it to be. Profile page is much poorer experience also, simplistic with less info up front. And if you're going to apply a "theme" you should give people options, including going back to the neutral white/gray background, as this one isn't necessarily appealing to everybody.

That's odd--I'm seeing it on my end. What browser and OS are you using? Also--try refreshing the page with Ctrl+R if you're not on a mobile device. Let me know!
janolov - Posted - 09/12/2017: 23:06:45
I just encountered two problems:
1. I cannot start a new topic! :( The dialog box opens and I can put in a subject but I cannot add any text.
2. When replying, like this reply, I can only put the text in the Plain Text box, the Rich Text box is closed.
I am using Chrome
schlange - Posted - 09/12/2017: 23:09:47
Try clicking Ctrl+R to refresh your browser, janolov. Let me know if that works.
janolov - Posted - 09/12/2017: 23:11:34
Continued:
3. I cannot edit the post (within the 15 minute limit)
This occurs even with IE.
janolov - Posted - 09/12/2017: 23:15:00
Eric, Ctr+R does not work!
Also 4. I cannot use the "Reply with an quote". The same thing happens.

Now the Reply seems to work with IE, but not with Chrome.![]()

Clearing your browser's cache should fix it. We're working on a fix that will automatically work for everyone though.
Using plain text works fine, too.

I can't use rich text, no field to write in, only plain text works. Another problem: the top of website disappears all the time, you can't scroll up to that part, including your settings. Sometimes it return, however. I am using Safari.
I cannot start a new topic, the field to write in does not let me enter...
The old design offered a better overview...
AndrewD - Posted - 09/13/2017: 01:09:18
When I go to my home page I can only see a handful of links to my recent posts. Where's the "Show all posts" - or whatever it was - link. I sometimes want to refer to an older post. Looks like I'll have to use the "Search" if it's not very recent.
Scout70 - Posted - 09/13/2017: 02:26:41
What was wrong with the previous design? It was simple to use especially on an iPhone. I for one don't care for the new format.

look at the lower left hand corner under you feeds where it says: MY Feed and click on it. I think you will see all you want.... This adjustment is a bit stressful because we all love the hangout and our activity on it.

I do miss the list of current topics on my homepage. Reckon it's just gonna take some getting used to. I will say the color scheme on the fiddle hangout is way better. It's more like the original site.
Laurence Diehl - Posted - 09/13/2017: 06:07:21
I like the media tab on my home page. Latest tunes, vids and photos sorted by date, desc - and it loads right away. Thanks for your work Eric!
schlange - Posted - 09/13/2017: 06:20:50
Thanks for your patience everyone. Lots of tweaks to apply now that it's live, including some color changes that should show up today!
If the rich text editor isn't working for you, clearing your browser cache should fix it. We'll try to fix it on our end today, though.

I can only speak for myself, but if the group section of this site is history, then i think you will lose a lot of traffic from UK members. Me for one :( :(
schlange - Posted - 09/13/2017: 06:26:40
We'll be bringing the groups back, just need to do some work on their code/layout first.
Tractor1 - Posted - 09/13/2017: 06:34:54
this whole revamp is truly amazing to a novice like myself and most of us .Storing and retrieving info in binary code and retrieving to the correct colors ,yikes I gotta a fiddle tune to work on,thanks eric ,get some sleep

My overall impression is that I liked the looks and operability of the old design better. I have seen sites before, such as portals, where the site allowed the user to arrange his/her homepage personally, such as different number and layout of columns, different content, etc. Is this something that could be implemented?
Banjophobic - Posted - 09/13/2017: 07:19:33
How do we reply with quote now? I can't seem to locate the feature.

The "Reply with quote" control is there. But doesn't seem to work. It takes me to a new page with an empty area with "Your message:" at the top. But not an editable pane with the original message. Chrome on Win10 - Latest versions.

Not keen on the new look, I couldn't see what was wrong with the old one, could it be just change for changes sake .....

Here is what eric gave as the why for this on the first post of the thread;
Hi Everyone,
This has been a long time coming, but I'm happy to announce that next week we'll be launching a redesigned Banjo Hangout.
You can see and use the new site right now at dev.banjohangout.org.
The new site is much more powerful and flexible when it comes to mobile devices, which is very important in today's world.
Apart from this mobile responsiveness the new site is functionally very similar to the live site, although it's been given a facelift. Behind the scenes, though, this is a big change which lays the groundwork for powerful new features to come. Once the new site launches, we'll start launching lots of new features including member tagging in posts, real-time PM chatting and the use of secure SSL throughout the site.
I'm announcing this now so we can crowdsource a little beta testing before we go live next week. The new site is using the exact same data as the live site, so you can use the new site right now to post on the forum, browse classifieds, etc, and your changes will be reflected across both versions of BHO.
If you come across any issues on the new site, or just want to comment on it, please post below. Like I said, we're shooting to take it live next week, hopefully Monday or Tuesday.
Stay tuned!

I usually view BHO on my IPhone, so Safari/Google for the browser. I just checked the blog entry and the text box is there. Maybe it just didn't load correctly (my internet's rather slow some days).

Eric, rich text is working, but only "sort of". I cannot invoke bold, italic, or underscore. I can get colors.
iPad here.
I just cleared my browser cache a few minutes ago but the problem persists.
