After seeing all those posted, which do describe the man, maybe and good description would be "EARL".

How I wish I had said "scrumtralescent"! Alas, I chose unwisely.

well earl was a man that in my opinion would be extremely hard if next to impossible to describe in just one word , so just like mary poppins would say "I don't know what to say, so I'll simply say" ... supercalafragalisticexpialadoshus !!

I haven't read the whole thread, so this may be a duplicate. In 2007, my friend, Hiro Sakayori, came and visited with me and my family during the Red White and Bluegrass Festival, traveling from his home in Tokyo, Japan. Earlier in the week, Hiro was out eating after the festival one night, with my kids and some of their friends. They were asking him about different notable banjo players. He knew JD, Baucom, Emerson among others. His engish speaking skills are somewhat limited, but he understood all of us and our questions for him. When they asked him about Earl Scruggs, here was his reply:
god
This picture was taken at the house where Earl started learning "the roll." Hiro wanted me to take the pic of him hugging Earl's boyhood home. It was a very spiritual event for both of us.
