Coincidentally Sherry, I also went to renew or cancel my SiriusXM subscription yesterday.  I got connected to what I think was a live person relatively quickly after the announcement that, "...we are experiencing unusually high call volumes today."  Not too many unnecessary questions later [from their end], I got the news that I was getting ahead of myself ..... gotta do it Dec. 30 - Jan. 1. 

And then it all came back to me.... I had canceled it last Oct. when they would only offer me a plan that was/is too rich for me.... then they phoned me in late Dec. with the same rate they had rejected in October, so with some reluctance, I re-enlisted at that point.

Lately I've been reading about rogue AI bots that not only evade instructions and safety controls but also break away from programming and do many types of nefarious deeds.

Not very comforting, imo.

I ended up paying $40.52 for 6 months. You just have to keep telling them that's too much and I only listen to a few stations when I'm in the car, so what do they have to offer in the $5 to $6 a month rate. When I finally told them to just cancel my subscription, then they came up with the $40 for 6 months plan.

Try it next time.

Thanks Sherry ... I'm currently on a 12-month plan; significantly less than $US80 per year.  I've got a feeling that they'll agree to an extension at the current rate but ya never know ... a year ago it took 3 months for it to "register."    I've more-or-less figured out how to put stuff onto a USB drive, so it wouldn't bother me to be without it, but my lovely and talented assistant thinks we should have it.  C'est la vie!

I dunno, maybe SiriusXM used AI to tell them that something was better'n nothing.
