I am curious if any of you have gutters guards that work. Keep leaves out, keep dirt from building up in gutters, don’t get clogged by leaves and sticks and twigs, etc?
…..my detached garage is under an ancient silver leaf maple tree. It’s a pain to keep the gutters clear. Brad

I like the "Eyebrow" deflectors set in the roof over doorways/no gutters.

] ... I don't use guards; this summer I cleaned the gutters* with a stick and garden hose for the second time in the 14ish years we've lived here. I figure gutters are a good thing because they allow diversion of the water away from the basement wall, and in the summer we collect it in "totes" for watering the garden. 
* I think that in this part of the world we call them eavestroughs w-a-y more than gutters.
...And to go onto another tangent, is there any good (?) reason to have enclosed downspouts rather than "open-faced" ones?
Edit: Indeed Brad .... "nowadays" and "wife" aren't always in alignment, but probably a good thing in the big picture.

I don't know what brand Gutter Guards Dave put in (too many years have passed), but they work great as far as leaves and twigs. The dirt still drifts in.
All I know is the top part is in a grid pattern that let's water/dirt flow through but keeps the leaves at bay. The guards have been on the house for over 15 years and still seem to be working okay. A couple of years ago my son got up on a ladder to check them out and the only thing in side was dirt.
