I'll search for my Dylan parody KIDNEY STONE lyrics.

And HERE they ARE!

Well, they stone ya so that you can't even walk!

And they stone ya so it's even hard to talk.

And they stone like a knife, for what it's worth!

And they stone ya like a man who's giving birth!

You're gonna howl and scream and groooooan!

Everybody hates a kidney stone!

Well they stone ya when they sneak up on ya, quiet.

And you'll wish you'd watched your exercise and diet.

And you'll holler out some obscene nouns and verbs,

And you'll beg your friends for ointments, pills, or herbs.

You'll try reach out by the Internet, or phoooooone!

Everybody hates a kidney stone!

Now, the pain will make you nervous and afraid!

And you might reach out for hardened lemonade.

And your doctor may suggest lithotripsy,

And it ain't easy finding rhymes for lithotripsy!

At least you know you're not out there, aloooone!

Everybody hates a kidney stone!

Ouch!! Sorry buddy! Ha…it sucks to have to be a workin’ man sometimes….I’ve got a torn groin muscle, and a hernia, and a golf ball sized gallstone stuck in the neck of my gallbladder…I feel yer pain! Some days that stone is jabbing at me like an ice pick…the docs are trying to figure out what to do with it.

It hurts…but at least that means you’re still a’ kickin’.

OK, I may get bragging rights on this one? Last August when I had my "incident" I had my wife drive me to the hospital thinking I was passing my first kidney stone. As it turned out the scan indicated my kidney was enveloped in Stage IV cancerous stuff. The pain was from how the kidney had started casting out blood clots that solidified is they hit the tubes-chemistry. That night while waiting for morning surgery to remove the kidney, the pain continued all night even with IV pain killers and pain pills fed to me all night, yet remained still excruciating pain. The doctors said that through the night I suffered the equivalent of passing about 30 stones. That kind of sucked!  They did not tell me the caliber of the stones.
That said Al, I am glad you did not have to spend the night in the hospital. You have been there, done that, eh.

Dow, my gall stones, after sitting there for a number of years started to act up and the decision was easy ....... get rid of the gall bladder.  I was in the Emergency Room at 6:30 in the morning, on the operating table at 12:00, and home by 3:00.  The surgeon also fixed my umbilical (outie belly button) hernia while she was removing my gall bladder.  I have never missed having it!

My first kidney stone was 12mm, so it wasn't coming out on its own ......blasted using lithotripsy ...... came out in a thousand fragments.  My second one, a couple of years ago was 5mm, about the size of a BB, and it came out on its own after I took FlowMax (which I now take daily anyway).  The E Room doc said it would take about 3 days and it took maybe 5, so all worked out well.  Good luck with yours Al!

So far I've not experienced  any stones in any of my organs ... knock on wood.   Fwiw, I periodically take a slug, or a few slugs, of pickle juice.  I tell my wife that it's to dissolve those suckers before they get to be a problem.  She scoffs at my logic [illogic?].   I say: "Don't knock success."  wink

I hope you soon get things under control Al.

After I had 2, I was informed to stay away from strawberries, rhubarb, sardines, energy drinks, and dark chocolate. Also heard that lemon juice or pickle juice / apple cider vinegar helps prevent them. Staying hydrated helps too.

It's  s-l-ow-l-y  com-in-g  ba-ck  to  me  n-ow ...... the pickle juice thing started when I was young(er) and foolish(er).  An acquaintance touted it as a hangover cure.  IIRC, it did diddly-squat in that regard, but tasted good enough that I figured I needed a plausible reason [excuse?] to continue.  yes
