Sticker shock when it comes to cars is not new. Seems like every time you shop for parts, batteries, anything for the car or truck, the price has gone up, up, up.

I went and got an oil change a week or so ago. The bill was $92. I was surprised. Daughter says that's not a bad price. I haven't had to pay for an oil change in several years, as that went along with the warranty. Unfortunately, they don't offer that perk any more.

You paid for all those oil changes in advance.

I change my own oil and filter and it still costs about what the dealers charge and I don't rotate the tires.  I only do it because of the pain in the neck to take it to a dfealer and either leave it or wait for it.  I had a 7:30 appointment at a dealership for my new car (which came with one oil and filter change) this past March and did not get out of thre until 10:30.  I'll take it back next March for a new transmission fluid filter, but will have to pay for the oil change.

Check out Dakota Lithium batteries. A friend just put 3 into his boat, and the cost was close to $4000....but he says they're the best. At that price, they better be....

How about tires?

I had to replace a tire on the new car I bought a year ago. I got it from Tire Rack for $275 plus $32 for Midas to do the installation. My car dealer had quoted an installed price of $392.

Ironically, the battery went out in my 2019 Tahoe yesterday. $265 for a new battery with exchange of old one. Totally unbelievable but what can you do? They got you coming and going.

There are really only 3 or 4 automotive batteries manufacturers in the U.S.
I’ve also had good luck with batteries from Walmart Ever Start batteries. Warranty is just as good as any I believe.
