Al, from the pic-nitting department, do all trees in CT grow cock-eyed, or just yours? ![]()
As a summer student [i.e. m-a-n-y summers ago] a couple or three of us students, for something to fill our spare time, built a small log cabin in the bush at Heming Lake, north of Cranberry Portage in N. MB. The camp handyman had been one of a couple dozen ax-men chosen [based on skill we were told] to build the lodge at Prince Albert National Park in N. SK. ... he checked it over and said that as long as the roof didn't leak, it would last 100 years.
... good thing your neighbor doesn't grow aspens like these https://canadiangeographic.ca/articles/the-crooked-bush-saskatchewans-botanical-phenomenon/

Screwing down floors is not the most fun job....nor is floor sanding..... in hot weather...
Got to be on your toes ( pun?) when using that thing. Stay in one place a little to long you've got a divot to sand out and they have a lot of yank/pull. Hold on it can get away from you on the first time you pull the trigger. (That's experience talking.) Liked to have ran up the wall the first time I pulled the trigger.
Which reminds me. Remember Constitutional Peasant aka Daniel from Texas? He and his son were building a small log cabin from rough pine I believe? I wonder how that turned out? Rule of thumb you guys with this type of dreams and skills if you start posting about your projects you start and don’t follow up with completed posting I going to remove you from my “wonder how ole so and so’s building project is going list”.
This has been a long project..
Aquired the logs..
Bought the mill...
Put the mill together...
Locate it to the platform...
Work out the bugs..n learn how to cut on it...
Cut a bunch of other lumber pieces i will need..not to mention a few trailer decks...
Stack n sticker all the wood..
Clear the location fer the shack..
Level n stone the site..
Lay the runners..n level them.
Now to start the building processes...
All kinda...one step at a time..
Now to cover the deck as it is spoze to rain fer 4 days startin Firday...
Heh..that gives me time to actually lay out ..just what i wanna build..
Door n winda placement n such.. as i have no idea as of now..
Also..i gotta cut the finnish flooring...n give it time to air dry..
It dose take some time to do these things..
