Oh jeez, I’d eat chili over elbow macaroni before I’d ever put green pepper in it!!!
And ya knows how I feel about elbow macaroni !!! Al, I cant even fathom how many good meals you’ve ruined with those damn green peppers!!!
Seriously, Glad you enjoy them, but they truly are my Nemesis and just not even a thought in this house!!! Mrs Slammer made stuffed red and yellow peppers last night and I ate those without too much whining, but certainly not one of my favorites!!!
I can tolerate colored peppers and enjoy the hell out of jalapeños and other hot peppers, but those green bell peppers will make this guy walk away from a table hungry!!!

Jonty, I hate to be picky, especially on your first try, but those flat noodles have to go !!!
It’s gotta be regular spaghetti. The meat sauce looks good. I use the same kind of cheese grater you do. The official Cincy Chili has this unique fine long strand shredded cheese that seems to have a different mouth feel and melting quality. I haven’t found a way to do it like they do. I like my onions chopped fine and lots of em please!!!
As far as comparing it to another dish………..I don’t think you can!!! Cincinnati Style chili is an odd duck , as in I can’t think of another dish that compares. I think that’s why people either love it or hate it. Glad you had a go at it and hope you enjoyed it enough to try it again. Oh, and don’t forget the chili dogs with the leftovers!!!

Thanks Dale, all constructive criticism welcomed taken on board......  The kids and I are have a bonfire later - would you like to come over and piss on that too? smileysmiley

Me and the boy are having chilli dogs later

Jonty, your chili looks just right but I have to agree with Dale here. Try with round spaghetti, lots of finely diced (but not minced) onion, and a big mound of "fancy shredded" mild cheddar. That is getting the real Cincinnati Chili experience. But I know that yours tasted good just like it was.

Thanks Bill, we only had linguine in the cupboard.  I'm good with the onion, but I'll leave you guys to the cheese.  It was very good.

I tried to make meatloaf yesterday. I never liked it. I know everyone thinks I'm crazy. It always seemed like a slice of boiled hamburger to me with bits of vegetables,

Cost quite a bit to make this cheap/easy meal too! I'm going to have to put it the " NO Thanks!" category!

Going to have to eat it again tonight too! Every now & then I get a flop in my experiments!

All the smash burgers I could have made with 2lbs. of burger!

Trying a new recipe for Cheese w/Broccoli Soup tonight. Biggest difference is adding bacon. Sounds like it should be good, if one adheres to the, "Rule of Bacon".

I'm thinking Ham & Swiss Wraps to go with, and a Spinach Salad. Anybody like Celery Seed Dressing? I do, but with a Spinach Salad? I don't know.

I'm open to wine pairings for this meal.

Thank you for your consideration.

I got the photo before I cut into it, discovered it wasn't quite done, put it back in the oven, took it out and proceeded to mangle it. I am not one of nature's carvers.

I never liked meatloaf either, until I had the following recipe, called Summer Meatloaf, which I suspect somebody came up with to get rid of the leftovers from a picnic. It uses:
Ground beef, a small container of sour cream, crumbed hot dog rolls, an envelope of onion dip mix, an egg, and tarragon. After baking and unmolding, it gets broiled with a mixture of ketchup and brown sugar spread on the top.

Atta girl Liz !!! I was a little piggy again and this is my lucky week, I hit the trifecta!!!
Spaghetti and meatballs 3 days in a row. I know I made a big batch, but damn!!!
2 nice meatballs and a spoonful of sauce left and I guess I’ll take Liz’s idea and have a meatball sammich tomorrow for lunch along with leftover dip. We had a Dip party at work today and everyone brought in a different dip. Hot dip, cold dip, spicy dip, dessert dip, veggie dip , meat dip………….and the list goes on!!! It was delicious and I couldn’t find a bad one in the bunch!!!

I'm glad I checked in! The meatloaf wasn't a flop Liz! The recipe I used had a whole diced onion & fresh herbs. We still have sage. rosemary & thyme out back. 3 cloves of garlic. I made the topping too! Added a gob of blackstrap molasses!

It was way better for round 2. We par boiled some little potatoes, smashed & fried them up in the cast iron. Then we threw in some thick slices of meatloaf. First time I thought I should have cut the onions smaller. They softened up nice overnight . I only used 3 big sage leaves & I thought that was too much too. Like chili or spaghetti It gets better over night!

I think there's a big difference from straight out of the pan to fried up a bit! We used a packaged mushroom gravy mix . Dry onion soup mix makes a good fish coating too!

Bob, if you've got some leftover, try it fried as a sandwich tomorrow.  You may not be a 100% fan but i think that slices of next day fried meatloaf are better than the main event so to speak.
